A generation gap is commonly perceived to refer to differences between generations that cause conflict and complicate communication, creating a “gap.”
There has always been tension between the generations, especially in the workplace. The people who lived through the Second World War poured scorn on the Baby Boomers and their idealism and self-absorption. Now, it is the Millennials. While Boomers believe strongly in the value of experience and working your way up, Millennials are seen as feeling entitled and over-pampered by parents only too well aware of how challenging the workplace has become for those who are not sufficiently prepared.
